Course: This course introduces students to the theory of probability and its applications to a variety of fields including biology, economics, computer science, and engineering. We cover most of Ch 1 - Ch.8 of the book A First Course in Probability (6th edition) by Sheldon Ross. Students should be familiar with the integral calculus of functions of one and several variables (Math 116 and Math 215 or equivalent).
Grading: There will be two one-hour exams and a comprehensive final exam.
The exams are closed book/notebook. You will be allowed to use one 3-by-5 index card.
Homework assignments will be collected weekly.
2 Midterms - 20% (each), Homework - 20%, Final - 40%.
